Tips & Tricks
DISCLAIMER: Slime is not edible. We know our slimes are crafted to look super realistic but please DO NOT eat slime! Additionally, please keep slime out of reach from pets, furniture and unsupervised children.
Longevity: Unlike food, slime is able to last a lifetime if cared for properly. This section will go over all the tips and tricks to ensure that you get the most out of your slimes.
Temperature: Unfortunately, all slime is subject to melting and there is no way to prevent this. However, the easiest fix would be adding an activator solution. All orders include an activator solution to ensure your slime can be easily fixed if it becomes sticky. If you run out of the activator solution included in your order, you can add a little bit of laundry detergent or purchase borax to make your own borax solution.
Clean Hands: We know you are eager to receive your slime and start playing with it right away, but it is extremely important to wash your hands before and after playing with slime. If you do not wash your hands before playing with slime, you could cause the slime to get dirty by attracting the germs from your hands. After playing with slime, be sure to wash your hands one more time because the borax solution can dry out your hands. Clean hands are important but a clean surface will not only make slime appear nicer, but also help lengthen your slime's lifespan.
Clear Slimes: Slime shops often label clear slime as an “expert texture” because it requires special handling. Clear slimes melt a lot easier and can feel very tacky. Clear slimes may be more captivating because of how pretty they look, especially in the sunlight, but it means more maintenance to keep it clear. To prevent clear slimes from turning foggy, it is important to wash your hands and the exterior of the container of the slime before opening the slime to play with it. Additionally, the surface in which clear slime will be played on should be clean.
Storage: Maybe you just want a quick slime break before heading out. Remember to ensure that your slime is being stored in an airtight container. The last thing you want is your precious slime to slowly dry out without you even realizing. Your slimes would also appreciate living in a dark, cool area. This can help slow down the natural melting process.
Stiff Slime: It is highly recommended to add very little activator solution at a time to prevent over-activating slime. If you over-activate your slime, which will lead it to become stiff, you can leave it out to sunbathe. This would speed up the melting process. If you are impatient and must play with your slime right away, even though it is stiff, you can add some lotion which should soften it up immediately. The lotion method is not recommended for clear slime as lotion is not clear and will turn your slime foggy. Over-activated clear slimes prefer to sunbathe.
Messy!: Oh! It seems like you got carried away and accidentally made a mess on your carpets. No worries, just mix a 50-50 solution of cold water with white vinegar. Spray the area of slime that is stuck on the carpet and gently scrub away. Note: the vinegar water solution on a small area of the carpet before treating the entire area to prevent additional damage to the carpet.
